Coaching Process for High Performance Executive teams

General aspects:
When we met for the first time to talk about implementing the coaching process, our leadership team told us, that after 1 year of experiencing the process, they could notice a real change in the behaviour of the participants. I was very sceptical and I didn’t think that could be possible. It was not clear to me how an intervention for a high performance could be effectively done. During the process itself, we were given several impulses how to deal either mentally as well as physically with the threats of the professional and the private life.

 

Aspects concerning work:
The main insight I’ve got during the process was, that changes are no threats to be afraid of; changes are rather challenges and opportunities to grow. This refers to changes happening in the close surroundings, you can’t interfere as well as changes that can be initiated by you. In both cases I am giving me now the permission to declare and defend my own visions and interests actively. Further on the process helped the participants to get to know each other much better. I evaluate this as positive on the one hand, because the understanding of the actions of the others are much easier to comprehend, but on the other hand there is a certain danger that confidential information can be used against each other. Very impressive to me was the circle, where the centre was drawn, to which we should return. In the end I got the confirmation in my understanding of leadership: leadership should be understood as a service and not to please the Ego and to be understood as an end in itself. The time will show, if we really grew to be a high performance team.

 

Personal aspects:
During the coaching I’ve got the feeling to be much more balanced in my private life. I’ve found out what is really important for me. I am concentrating on that now. I am not mixing up my work life and my private life anymore. In my spare time I am really present for my family. That was not always like this in the past. I am much more aware about my surrounding, thanks to the coaching process. The intensity, I was able to be aware of the nature during and after the process impressed me much. Because of these reasons this year has given me very much, personally and job wise. A coaching process performed in the way we were able to receive is a unique process at Volkswagen and it is probably not going to be repeated in a closer future. The future is going to show us how far the spirit of the process is going to be kept. But I know that I am going to follow this spirit for myself anyway.

Mrs. Birgit  Käufl (Energie & Balance/ Bad Tölz/ Germany) is a wonderful coach. Her insight and capacity to dive deeply into the soul of the coachee is her greatest talent. The coaching process  had been realized with an excecutive team of managers of a mayor German  industrial enterprise. The process itself was built up in different stages and took about 12 months.
The applied methods and tools,  responded to  physical and  mental areas and were applied mostly to the whole group.
Complementarily it was possible to support the process by individual coaching sessions.
After a beginning natural scepticism of the mayor part of the participants, the two very experienced coaches were able to create in an admirable fast track, confidence and openness in order to encourage the active participation of the participants. By the end of these first stages, there  was a much better sense of communication, openess and  collaborating teamwork in between the participants perceptible.
The team was so convinced about the quality of the process, that they decided to transfer the process to the next lower management level.
After all the scepticism at the beginning this is probably the best testimonial anybody can certify the coaches.
